Last time I was in the Superdome was the BCS NC Game - Bama vs. LSU.
What was that Jan 9th, 2012? So... it's been a year.

ETA: To answer the OPs question - I think it's ok/pretty good. I've seen better ones (like Minn. new design). You're trolling too hard if you think that's an a-hole.

Money Well Spent

quote:

From January 2011 to June 2011, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome completed an $85 million renovation that completely modernized the facility. Since 2006, the total amount spent on renovations is $336 million.
Key, significant enhancements include:
- Expansion of Plaza (100 Level) concourse
- Additional concession points of sale and restrooms on Plaza (100 Level)
- Replacement and reconfiguration of the East and West Side Plaza
Seating Units (100 level) - offering 3,100 new seats and improved sight lines.
- Addition of two premium ground/field level bunker clubs
- 3 additional elevators for improved vertical transportation
- Expansion of Exterior Plaza Gates A and C

But yeah the Georgia Dome is much nicer

First of all, it is ridiculous that they are replacing the Georgia Dome which is perfectly fine (although admittedly not fantastic).

That being said, I think people are being overly critical of the design of the new stadium. Some people are criticizing it b/c it looks so different, but the Jerry Dome is different and it is pretty well received. MLB does well with retro parks b/c baseball is so rooted in the past and people go to feel nostalgic. But the whole NFL experience is a different thing entirely and I think it is cool they are trying something new.

It might indeed turn out to be a clusterf*ck, but I think there is a fair chance that it could be one of the coolest stadiums in the NFL.

To go w/ a baseball analogy, it is bold and they are swinging for the fences. They may strike out and it may be a home run. I don't see it being a single up the middle. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

"The regular guys" called it that last week. They're falcon fans (allegedly) They also informed the Atlanta based audience that it was the perfect place in the city to put a giant a-hole. And finally Your cities residents nicknamed it....
