It also really doesn't matter. ATL is getting a new stadium that will be one of the most premier venues in the nation. Not only for College/Pro sports but for other events (concerts, soccer, truck/motor bike crap, etc).
This argument is ...

First of all, it is ridiculous that they are replacing the Georgia Dome which is perfectly fine (although admittedly not fantastic).
That being said, I think people are being overly critical of the design of the new stadium. Some people are criticizing it b/c it looks so different, but the Jerry Dome is different and it is pretty well received. MLB does well with retro parks b/c baseball is so rooted in the past and people go to feel nostalgic. But the whole NFL experience is a different thing entirely and I think it is cool they are trying something new.
It might indeed turn out to be a clusterf*ck, but I think there is a fair chance that it could be one of the coolest stadiums in the NFL.
To go w/ a baseball analogy, it is bold and they are swinging for the fences. They may strike out and it may be a home run. I don't see it being a single up the middle. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Will a world champion ever call it home?

From those pics, I think the outside looks pretty tight. But thats about it....the inside doesn't look too sexy. No retractable roof?

You're the one that insinuated the Superdome was just as much as a fricking dump as the Georgia Dome. You started the ridiculous argument.
NOW TAKE IT BACK AND SAY YOU'RE SORRY!!!

I disagree. The new stadiums plans are "expected" to be done in ~2017. By 2017, the GA Dome will be about 25 years old. That's about the avg. shelf life of domes around the NFL.

...that it looks like corporate bull shite. Nothing about that stadium screams football to me, and it's a representation of something that is wrong with this country. They'll get concerts, Superbowls, world cup, etc., but there is nothing authentic or real about it.

looks very plain though.
maybe its just the lack of Super Bowl Banners.
PS that guy must be a taylor swift fan.

Has anyone gotten a good answer to why they are building it? From the MSB thread Blank is financing about 70% of it so he either hates the Georgia Dome or thinks he can make a lot of money off of it.
Unfortunately for the fans, he can and will. The dude is not a self-made billionaire because he hit the lottery. 180 luxury suites, as opposed to the existing 162. 7,500 club seats, as opposed to the existing 5,174. Reports are that Coca-Cola will be given the naming rights to the new stadium, which will line his pockets significantly. And most importantly, hello Personal Seat Licenses for all season ticket holders. Which really, really fricking blows.
Combined with the opportunity to hosts Super Bowls, National Title Games, and possibly a new MLS team which he has had a hard on for awhile, and you can see why he is hellbent on driving this new stadium to fruition.

Yeah, the roof closes if it needs to.
