Living in Atl and being a big Braves fan I saw Maddux pitch hundreds of times. He hardly ever tried to strike out anyone. Once in a while he would try and freeze a batter with his fastball coming back over the left side of the plate against both righties and lefties. But he hardly ever tried to make guys miss. He once pitched and entire season without throwing a curve or slider than threw a slider to get a big strikeout in a playoff game.

I saw Gray pitch on tv last yr in a podunk game, mabe a couple of hundred fans in the stadium, and he was as intense then as he was last nite. He hit 100 mph + 10 times & the announcers were freaking out. He's a stud & I don't see where comparing him to anyone else is relevant to anything. We have Nola, OU has Gray, & there's no doubt neither team would swap one for the other. And trying to compare Nola or anyone to a HOF pitcher like Maddux is just dumb. Maddux's pitching ability was built on a career of pitching in the big leagues. These 2 kids are still just college kids playing in college level games, albet a high level of games.
