I know that Gray has late life on his stuff. Believe me, I understand that. Nola's fastball runs a lot, especially when he subtracts from his fastball. Those ones at 87-88 were running all over the place on right handers last night. Nola has been throwing in the low 90's and he can certainly touch 94.
Gray has significantly more velocity and projects as a top of the rotation guy and has electric stuff, but you can't possibly think after last night that his FB runs more than Nola's.

Living in Atl and being a big Braves fan I saw Maddux pitch hundreds of times. He hardly ever tried to strike out anyone. Once in a while he would try and freeze a batter with his fastball coming back over the left side of the plate against both righties and lefties. But he hardly ever tried to make guys miss. He once pitched and entire season without throwing a curve or slider than threw a slider to get a big strikeout in a playoff game.
