Yep.
If you didn't know to check the wires at the switch to see what was hot and what wasnt, you shouldn't fool with it. Not being an a-hole. That shite is dangerous.

I know I'm at the end of my knowledge, just wondering if there was a next step or somebody else that has experienced this. I used the volt meter at the fan, but didn't get a chance to check it at the switch. Had to go pick up my kids. Will check that tomorrow.

and before you start messing with electricity find the breaker that goes to that switch and flip it off.
