I don't like how much a pussy-whipped lemming they are making Stannis just because Benioff and Weiss dislike Stannis as a book character. Stannis is a cold-hearted, rigid, douchebag of awesomeness. Not a lemming being cuckolded by the red priestess.

He was awesome in season two.

I was thinking the same thing while watching this episode. Stannis has plenty of faults. But being a pushover is not really one of them. Here he flip flopped like a pair of cheap footwear. He puts a lot of faith in Melissandre's hands but it always seemed like he was much more forceful and unbending then he's been presented in the show sometimes. (of course it's been quite awhile since I've read that section of the books and maybe he was that pliable but I don't remember it that way).
