Stashing Saric (I think he comes over, personally and doesn't spend a year in Europe) may actually help them: It gives them an extra 2.6 million to play with in FA.

Actually $3.2m since every team gives rookies 120% of the slotted amount, but I agree. That extra money may be the difference in landing the FA we want and settling for a plan C, or landing the FA we want and having the money to take on a guy like Deng for one season. Or that $3.2m could be used to sweeten the pot for a player like Korver or Webster to sign a one year deal with us, Landry/Kaman style.

But the article definitely helped sell me. The best point made was that he really seems like someone the Spurs would pick. I'd still rather Oladipo if he falls, even if we keep Gordon.

Very good point, and this may very well be the plan. If this gives the team a better option in FA, then go for the proven talent by a move such as this would only help the team, that is wanting to win some games NOW.

The article also made me like the idea of Saric a little more. If I had to choose, I like Burke, but there are quite a few different moves that can be done this off-season to improve the 1 and 3 outside of the draft.
