Alex Bregman - Best Freshman SS in LSU history

Alex Bregman now has 102 hits on the season, most all-time by an LSU Freshman.
He is only 9 hits away from breaking Brandon Larson's LSU record of 110 set back in 1997.
He is now batting .385 on the season, the highest BA for a Freshman since Todd Walker hit .400 back in 1992.
His 52 RBIs is second on the team behind Mason Katz and is only 1 behind last season's team leader, Raph Rhymes who had 53 in 2012.
As a SS, he doesn't have too much competition in LSU history as Freshman are concerned. Todd Walker, JC Holt, and Mike Fontenot had outstanding Freshman seasons but all of them are Second Baseman.
He also has 265 At Bats in 2013, most AB for an LSU player since 2009. The record for AB in a season is 293 held by Ryan Patterson in 2004.

He is the best baseball player on the 2013 roster

he is good
Oh and he doesn't look like a Freshman. He hasn't looked like one since day 1. Alex Edward and Kevin Berry look more like Freshman than AB.
He has a presence on the field that seems natural. He has become a leader on this team.
I love when he got the crowd cheering last night when he got on base. That was awesome. He simply waved his hands to tell the crowd to make noise and the 11,000 followed suit!

That kid is damn good. So glad he won't be able to leave for at least a couple years!

better than nola? im asking cause im not sure how you weigh the value of a position player compared to your teams ace.

THIS
I also think he is paving the road for future recruits. The game is changing and more kids are coming to school than in previous years because of money restrictions from MLB teams and more foreign players being drafted as well.
It is becoming less likely a kid signs unless he goes in the top 4 or 5 rounds and even that is a lock. The kids drafted outside the first round that sign and don't come to LSU weren't coming here regardless. The kids that are on the borderline, might watch Alex Bregman and see the national media attention he has stamped on his career with his play as opposed to being lost in the minors.
I am rambling right now

I took that into account. It's hard to compare, Nola might be the most valuble, but I think Bregs is the best overall baseball player

Nola didn't have the best Freshman season for a pitcher in LSU history last year. Sure, he was good but Lane Mestepay destroyed every Freshman record and is the best Freshman pitcher we have ever had, imo

NM, I see now that you weren't talking to me

I saw that part in the game last night as well. When Bregman was waving his arms to the crowd to get loud.
That was awesome!

He was saying that on 6/2/13, Nola is the best player on this team, and I absolutely agree with that. That's no disrespect to Bregman.

I was even pumped up and clapping at home! I hate to say it but it seemed to have woken the team up. We ended up scoring 4 runs after that

I was watching it with my dad and we couldn't walk away from it!

Talking to me? Cause neither of them played SS

I was asking for a general opinion from some of you guys who know baseball better then me. I would place greater value on dominant pitching than a top position player but im not sure cause my knowledge of baseball is average.
