Not as much as the book.
I read the book in '77 and I remember some parts of it scaring the goat plop out of me. e.g. 'the hedges.'

Yep, those twins freaked me out too. I think I was around 10 or 11 when I first watched it, and the movie as a whole freaked me out pretty bad. But the stuff leading up to Jack flipping out was "scarier" than when he actually flipped.
