Seriously, talking about jazz can open up a hundred page thread, as there is so diversely much, that it can´t be ´categorized´, but as for drum playing, it´s hard as hell, and develops you, absolutely no doubt.

Spacing, time consciousness, it´s all there.

One benefits, big time.

Everyone I have ever talked to has said this. I will probably start studying some soon.
