I just wish there was more parody in the NFL.
Maybe they'll hire Weird Al to sing the intro to MNF.
i'm pretty sure this was another one of those over the head things

why would i expect improvement....our 4 worst players are all in contract years for the most part....Will Smith, Roman Harper, Malcom Jenkins, Patrick Robinson. Which means even for fatty we should expect their best if for nothing else their own interests.
Competition...none of these players are entirely guaranteed playing time with a new coordinator and backups pushing for playing time...Smith/Hicks, Robinson/Lewis, and Harper/Jenkins/Vaccaro/Quddous....if they dont perform they wont play...at least not for long
Health/Availablity...Hawthorne and Vilma being able to start if necessary for a whole season or just being available improves our defense
Scheme - our switch puts two of our best players on the field at all times as oppose to just in situations....Wilson/Galette/and Butler are an upgrade in any way over Shanle/Ellis/or whomever was in this spot a year ago from a 4-3 alignment.
Rob Ryan DC being led by Peyton IMO beats....Spags being led by Kromer...then Vitt...
I think its not that unrealistic to think in certain ways our defense is vastly improved from last year...worst case scenario it wont be any worse.

Vilma will not be starting! Kromer didn't lead anybody! I do agree competition will make us better, but more than anything SP brings accountability! Something we missed last year!

I didnt know only starters can make an impact on a defense...read the whole statment...Hawthorne is the starter i mentioned...Vilma is the just being available

i liked it better in 06 or 07 when John Curtis came up here and Joe McKnight went Reggie Bush/USC style on them. It was a joy to watch. Being from Louisiana before Katrina I knew the whoopin that was coming...these kids never had a clue.

solid relative to what. Last year?

Why are you so excited at Vilma not starting, Kromer not leading anyone?

I think the key to the defense and perhaps the whole 2013 season lies with the running game, both on offense and defense.
If we can somehow get back to or close to the caliber of our 2009 rushing game (4th in NFL), it will keep our defense off the field and demoralize the other team somewhat.
If our defense can somehow be in the upper half of rushing defense, that will improve our pass rush and in turn our pass defense.
I think how well we stop the run could be a big key to the season.

I know the defense was horrible last year, but everyone forgets how unbalanced our offense was as well. They had no sustained success whatsoever and hardly attempted to commit to run the ball. If they could have kept the opposing defense on the field longer, our defense might have not been so gassed

Because Loften and Hawthorn will be our starting ILB's! Not exited about the shite. Only thing Im exited about is our play caller and head coach is back and the best play caller in the game!
