I love how people choose whatever recruit is considered most likely to leave, then they obsess over him and ignore all the other players that we are getting.
ETA: Also:

The last "once in a decade OT" will be starting for LSU at LT this season.

Isn't this the same thing people were saying about La'el? Cam is great, but that doesn't mean that he will be the best player for LSU at tackle. It's about chemistry on the line bro.

Cam Rob is higher ranked and EASILY has higher ceiling. Kid is a freak OL.
ETA:
La'el has great potential as well, but certainly hasn't turned into a dominant force we thought he would. Cam Rob is going to be at least as good and probably better than La'el. Having an OL like that is what enables the power running that we love. It is won and lost in the trenches and I really don't want to lose our best OL recruit maybe ever in the state to Alfrickingbama.
Also, pairing an OL like CR with LF would be immeasurably awesome.

LSU doesn't need a 5 star OT to win games.
If we lose him which will hurt it will be to the team that won the last 3 out of 4 years. I don't want that to happen.

The point is not, as some people imagine, whether a single player makes or breaks a program.
The issue is whether we can call this year's recruiting effort a success. By happenstance, we have a ton of hihg four and five star talent in the state or otherwise instictively inclined to come here. We ought to get the lion's share of these recruits under any circumstances.
When someone comes in to directly challenge us on an exceptional in state talent like Robinson, it is a test of mettle as recruiters.
Alabama has made Cam Rob a priority. He has no special ties there. Can we keep him home? If not, we can't call this a successful campaign, no matter how many other good athletes fall in our lap.

We don't have all those folks, Afro.
And all, except Fournette, rank lower.
Some of our top recruits are diaspora recruits, effectively, La. recruits.
So, yes, our effort will definitely be tarnished and job incomplete if we lose a "once in a decade", instate OL like Robinson.

NitWit, as an LSU fan, I respectfully ask you to put a Bama A next to your name. It would seem most appropriate.

Sometimes it seems LSU doesn't recruit N. La. as earnestly as it does S. La. (I know, local recruiting is more convenient and efficient). ...

Alabama recruits OL as if their program depended on it. ...

Alabama places a premium on great OL and I look for them to concentrate their La. efforts on Cam R. They'll give lip service to the rest and go thru the motions, but I think Cam R is the priority. This will be a real test for Les, IMO....

It may be time for some of the posters to get real and cut Coach Cristobal some slack. It's pretty well known in D-1 coaching ranks that Coach Saban sets down, in memo form, the points that must be communicated to a recruit in every communication.
