As a fellow duck hunter and an LSU EVEG grad, i'd have a hard time passing on 3, though there really isn't much science to it since a rice field in itself is prime "duck habitat".

With regard to #2, there are a few areas in south La that are already using marshes as kind of a tertiary treatment system. One example that got a lot of coverage a few years back was the one south of Ponchatoula, now drains through the Manchac Swamp area, including those WMA's. As for #2.....oh geez. You're probably OK evaluating the nutrient uptake but don't go anywhere near the referenced "rodnreel" discussing sediments.

I did my senior design on metals accumulation in LSU lake fish....required us to go fishing, not a bad deal. Unfortunately, did not have access to the shock boat. good luck and PM me if I might be of help.
