Carrie Brownstein recently shared her favorite punk albums/singles:
Pretty good list. Some albums I wouldn't necessarily label as straight up 'punk' but definitely punk influenced. That Wipers album is one of my favs.
What would you guys include on your essential punk list?

I love the different styles of punk. It's interesting to see people's differences in taste. (e.g. someone know likes minor threat may not necessarily love the buzzcocks)

I'm often amused by what people consider punk. I'm a huge Social D fan, but some people don't even classify them as punk. I agree, they aren't Corrosion of Conformity, but they ain't Duran Duran, either.

Corrosion of Conformity = Metal IMO... so, point taken
I guess their early stuff is punk, but I still associate them with Pepper and metal...

That can definitely be argued, but 154 is where they turned the corner on a new sound that Chairs Missing started... So I can see others preferring that sound to say, Pink Flag...

Chairs Missing is my favorite Wire record, then Pink Flag. Pink Flag is the most punk though.

Some of my favs:
Slapshot - 16 Valve Hate
Bad Brains - I Against I
Bad Religion - Suffer
Pennywise - Unknown Road
Black Flag - Damaged
Warzone - Lower East Side
Judge - New York Crew
Cold As Life - Born To Land Hard
Slapshot - Sudden Death Overtime
If you count Dropkick Murphys as punk then i'll throw Do or Die and Sing Loud, Sing Proud up there too.
To be clear, this isn't a "best of" list, these are just some of my personal favorites.

The Bad Brains self titled album, "Fun House" by The Stooges, and "Damaged" by Black Flag are the definitive punk albums, IMHO. Those three albums best represent the energy and attitude that punk was all about.
