Confirmed it was eaten by a bear and they were fixin to leave. No visible signs on the front or back of the calf. They decided to skin the neck and found bruising then teeth marks. The tendon that held its neck up was into. It was really weird because no hair was missing.

I'm not sure I would eat. My dog would dig in.
OP, will the state compensate you for loss of livestock?

They will probably fine him and ban white face heifers.

They may if confirmed. It's the states bear that ate it. Not sure how that works.

The state should compensate him, but they won't.

I know some programs were started in western states where they were promoting the red wolf. It kept ranchers from killing wolves if they got some compensation for loss of livestock.
If Louisiana wants to promote the bear they better keep the ranchers happy.

No money!!! I live about a mile from Black Bear golf course and the new lake. Before the lake was built the highest concentration of black bears in Louisiana was were the lake is now. We are over run!!!

The sad thing is a rancher is gonna blast a bear for frickin with his livestock, and he's gonna get in trouble for it.
