I'm on the road 75% of the time and office at home the rest. I have a laptop with Outlook, S3 with the Good app, and an iPad running the factory email app.

And holy shite is it a clusterfrick. My previous job was with a small company that had nothing for an IT security policy. I ran my company email through my Gmail account. Could check my email from any computer or tablet, and it integrated with my Android phone perfectly.

Fastforward to this job and the 20 emails a day I get are killing me. I like to archive an email as soon as I'm done with it to keep my inbox clean, but an archived email can't be accessed on my phone or iPad. And even searching my archive on my laptop sucks balls. Outlook's search function was created by retarded monkeys with lead poisoning I swear.

Any advice here? How do you do it?

You cannot start archiving mail until you know you are done with it... You just need to start using Flags for mail you still need to respond to... Thats what I do

Laptop and VPN for archiving once a day. Good app just to stay in the loop. Ipad for surfing only, not convinced it is ready for the business world.

U have to pick your poison.

assuming you have imap email, create folders by client, job, or whatever. move it there after you read it.

Why archive anything? Why move/sort any emails ?

If you are using gmail and outlook 2013/365 with imap you can't have a more ideal email situation.

I have my gmail with every email I've received/sent (that I didn't feel like deleting) for all of 2013 available at my fingertips anytime, anywhere...Web browswer at gmail.com ... iphone/ipad email app .... or outlook 2013 from my home/work PC (they stay synced since it's imap) ...I delete from my iphone, it disappears from outlook, etc ...the search function is robust and outlook sort/search is all you need.

just let your inbox fill up...you can always flag, sort by, and search....I'll never understand why people want to move emails around ...
