Completely at a loss as to why this matters.

Is it nostalgia or some stubborn mindset to keep pretending sports and corporate America aren't 1 in the same?

IMO these bowls committees are really devaluing their brands by allowing sponsors to rename the bowls. Yes, they are making money because of the TV deals and sponsorships, but let's not act like fan bases are as excited to go to the Restaurant Bowl or the Lawn Equipment Bowl. The name brand is gone and with that the importance in many fan's eyes of the event.

If you asked 10 CFB fans 9 of them would say they prefer the old ways. Which is what committees should be listening to. Because it is just as important to get fanbases to come to your town for a few days as it is to get people to watch your bowl game on TV.

To make a long winded opinion longer, these committees are whoring out their bowls for a little money but missing the big picture and therefore offering less of a product to the fans.
