What about maintence, fuel additives, etc. on the new diesels ??
I've found that the maintance and additives cost is usually exagerated by those that don't even own a diesel or are relatively new to them. An oil change for my 6.7 is comparable to the cost for an oil change in my previous 7.3. The fuel additive(DEF) is ~$17 for a 2.5 gallon jug, I'll usually add one jug roughly every 5000 miles or so.
ETA: I do my own maintance. Currently in my truck is the required oil(13qt), oil filter, and fuel filters(2 of them) for a grand total of ~$150. Also keep in mind that the maintance schedules, per Ford, are recommended every 10,000 miles for an oil change(I do it every 5,000 just to be safe). Whereas my 7.3 and any gasser will require an oil change every 3,000 miles.

You said this cost $150. I go 7500 miles (Ford recommends 10k) and it cost me $25 from Ford.
