I know many of you on this board would hate this pick, but I'm starting to think this will happen..
Reason #1 Mingo is starting look like a lock to go before 15, also the mock drafts from the media don't always translate to what GMs are actually thinking and the smoke screens that they are planting (health problems). Jarvis Jones who was a consensus #1 player before the off-season could be snagged early on
Reason #2 The 49ers have a glaring hole at Safety w the departure of Goldson and want to jump to 13-14 (ahead of us) for a reason.. If they didn't believe we wanted Vacarro, why not move to 15? They know that the Saints are one of the main teams likely to move back
So why take Vacarro?
Because he's a versatile player that lined up all over the field as SS, FS, and also played man-to-man nickel at Texas. Being able to line up anywhere on the field makes him a great candidate for a Ryan 3-4.. CSP knows better than anybody the importance of match-ups, and having that versatility in the back end will improve the entire secondary
The transition to the 3-4 was made possible bc the Saints figured Martez & Junior fit the OLB pieces, they wouldn't have switched to the 3-4 if they thought otherwise. Having those 2, plus butler.. Makes OLB not as big of a need as some think. Let the unproven OLBs have their chance and get an OLB next year if they don't pan out. We dont know what we have in those 3 yet, but we know what we don't have in Harper
Bash away! Thursday is oh so close

So this thread means nothing then?

Word around Dutchtown is that Eric Reid is drawing a lot of attention from SF. They may not want to trade up.

I'm one who believes that much improved front seven/pass rush will take a lot of pressure off of our safeties. Also, the consensus is that Harper will be a perfect scheme fit so hopefully he balls. I wouldn't mind drafting a safety, but Vacarro + #15 don't match

THIS. Elam reminds me of a harder hitting Ed Reed with less ball skills (at this point).

You should really give that up

So who do we get if the top OLBs are gone? Trade back is an easy answer, but if we can't?

I'll be pretty pissed. Would be a very dumb selection at 15th overall

There are maybe only 1-2 other picks that I would be more disappointed with. If they take KV, I won't even watch the rest of the draft. I really won't give a shite at that point

Really? You wouldn't watch the rest draft because you think you know more than the coaching staff? This is one step below the people that say they wouldn't be Saints fans anymore if we stat Te'o. Do I want KV? No. But I'm not going to pack it in and turn in my fan card if we pick him.

If Mingo or Jones is there at 15, I just don't see how we can pass on him.
I'd say Jenkins gets one more year to "put up or shut up." He's never taken the next step. I'm pretty impressed by the way Issa Abdul Qaedus (sp?) played last season with Jenkins hurt. If anyone should be nervous about losing a starting job, its Jenkins to the guy already sitting on the bench. Not sure we'd spend that pick on a position we may already have an answer for.

No. It's not even remotely like that at all.

You sure are adding a lot of stuff I never said to try and make a point aren't you?

Add me in on this one. Elam single handily beat LSU. Dude is a baller!

+1
Elam > Vacarro and Rhodes

Yea I think this would be terrible pick at 15. There are other safeties in the draft that are marginally less talented than Vaccaro. If you have a chance to take mingo or jones, theres no way I take Vaccaro. JMO.

Mingo might be gone but jarvis sackman jones won't
