Great black tail hunting in central Oregon. You can easily hunt elk and moose in northern wa. Eastern WA and OR are very dry and have some good upland bird hunting. Salmon and fly fishing for trout. LOTS of options when you consider the drastically different climates on each side of the cascades.

It's not the rain so much (Chicago gets more precipitation than Seattle) as it is the almost 300 days of overcast skies. It can get depressing. But the hunting and other outdoor activities could make up for that in your case.

Oh and soooo much beer

we love the outdoors.

How much driving is it to get to the different terrains/ types of hunting? Am I looking at a 2hr drive from Portland to hunt elk, upland birds, blacktail? Or more like a week long trip/ across the state/ 8hr drive type thing?

Turkeys near the Eugene area.


We have ducks, grouse, and quail as well to hunt.
