1 –Datone Jones – DE – UCLA
Well-built athlete with long arms and good strength, throughout. Flashes an explosive initial burst off the snap to penetrate gaps. Uses his hands well at the snap to rip free from blocks, showing a variety of pass rush techniques (swim, rip, club), as well as enough power to simply bull over offensive linemen into the backfield. Offers great value to NFL teams featuring the 4-3 and 3-4 alignments, alike.
3- Brandon Williams, DT – Missouri Southern
Broad-shouldered and bulked up, especially in his upper body. Possesses the upper-body strength to shove opponents into the backfield and disrupt plays before they even have a chance to begin. Has enough short area quickness to slice through gaps. Possesses longer arms (32 3/4) than expected given his stout frame, which he uses well to keep offensive linemen off of him. Surprisingly light feet and balance to move laterally through the trash and shows enough phone-booth quickness to close.
4- Keith Pough – OLB – Howard
Athletic chase linebacker with speed to close on quarterbacks in the pocket and running backs from the backside. Brings bad intentions in his tackle attempts; drives targets back by dropping his hips and keeping his feet moving and straight-on meetings and throws down any ball carrier in his path. Pough is a tackles-for-loss machine, using his length and speed to chase ball carriers from behind, as well as attitude to attack them in the hole.
5- Aaron Mellette - WR Elon
Solidly-built frame with good height and length for the position. Smooth body adjustments and looks flexible in his cuts, using his reach and movements to collect off-target throws. Uses his size well and knows how to box out defenders and utilize his frame. Natural hands-catcher with good focus to snatch grabs away from his body. Good toughness over the middle and competes for the ball in tight spaces.
6 – Ray Ray Armstrong –SS – Faulkner (formally Miami)
Is a big, aggressive athlete with the speed and range to cover both sidelines, flashing first round ability.
