How many times did we run the option to the short side of the field?

Rob Bolden....believe it or not....was a 4.55 running WING T OFFENSE QB in High School. He didnt run much at PSU cause he was trying to prove he's a drop back passer.

I like you as a poster TheDoc but dont ever frick with "The Ritt"

But if I come off too strong on this topic....My bad..

I just really hate the idea of playing freshman QBs who are not in contention to start.
Sorry I've been "Shepped" (obviously didnt last at QB....but JJ being only a year ahead..if he stuck at QB that would have been viewed as a waste right now)
Save him....if shite gets bad where Rivers cant hold the job...then pull the RS..

You dont have to be fast to run the wing T in high school and a 4.55 given from high school coaches means he runs closer to a 5 flat.

Just ask any Penn State fan about him and they will tell you about his "athletic ability". Hed have Jeffersons running ability at best.

Guy wasn't a college quarterback from the getco....painfully obvious to anyone who has seen him throw the ball.

People need to calm down on the Jennings hype. He still will end up redshirting.

Rivers > Jennings.

Rettig might be as good as Jennings in time as well.
Better watch it there Rittdog. You're going to upset that clique that's already attached themselves at the hip to JennSwag. Better hope he doesn't eventually wind up like Russell Shepard and Gerard Randall. The JennSwag Clique will all committ suicide. Remember, they all said that Randall had a very strong arm and was the real deal. Where is he now?

Were you born stupid or did you take lessons? He had the second most snaps at qb in this scrimmage and he made the most of it.

quote:

Backup quarterback Anthony Jennings completed eight of 11 passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns. He added 36 rushing yards on four carries. Jennings had touchdown passes of 20 and 13 yards to Landry and a 20-yard catch-and-run by fullback Connor Neighbors.

So did Rettig but Rivers why was it he only threw the ball five times?

quote:

Stephen Rivers connected on three of five attempts for 31 yards, while Hayden Rettig was four of nine for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Jennings is the man and next year he will shine

Randall was like the #1 dual threat qb out of Florida...

Oh well. Good luck to him. Ran the scout team well.

We should have done this last year with what's his name

We would have, but what's-his-name sucked. If you could just see those two standing next to each other and throwing ten yard outs you'd never even think such a foolish thing again.

but if Mett goes down then Rivers will play. Rivers is just more experienced

I bet this is wrong. There are two reasons I think AJ will be the second string guy by the time we get to the meat of the schedule.

First, he's a smart kid, and we're installing a new offense. So the experienced Rivers' advantage kind of goes away.

Second, Rivers just didn't stop growing soon enough. If he'd of stopped a year ago, and his strength and coordination caught up to his height, he would have been able to establish himself better.

You can't compare a mediocre college QB to Peyton Manning

I'm weary of arguing the attributes of Mett, but suffice to say that he is very far from a mediocre college QB. He is the best QB we've had at LSU since Jamarcus. He WILL make an NFL roster and will probably start in the NFL for a year or two at least.

Peyton Manning is probably one of the unathletic quarterbacks in the league, but he has great footwork and pocket presence. Being a statue means you have no footwork or pocket presence.

Everywhere Manning goes they build a great pass protecting OL/TE/RB. Watch how Manning's pocket presence deteriorates behind LSU's slapdash 2012 OL.

Really? Did you watch the Colts during Mannings last few years there? they had one of the worst lines in the league. His super quick release was the only thing that saved him

+1000

The o line was terribly bad in 2012.. Injuries and inexperience. There would be times where you could count one second and a defensive lineman would be in metts face
