Talked to the wife about Sandpoint some tonight, and did some googling. She was never too excited about Idaho before, but she's coming around now. Even better, our friends who were planning to move back to CO are beginning to think that CO may be overpriced and seem interested in Sandpoint as well. If I can get her friend to move there, the wife will be no problem. The only issue is jobs. I'm going to start seriously planning an internet based business now. That would be ideal.
I'm hoping I can get our CO trip changed to an ID trip this summer. Gonna keep working on Mrs. Teague.

If you end up in ID, that's a great jump off point to a lot of great states that surround or are near ID. You'll have so many damn choices you'll have trouble just deciding much less narrowing ideas down.
Hopefully you wear the old lady down, and her friend goes.

Bend is beautiful Three sisters(Cascades) and Willamette river. But its a retirement, tourist town, prices are out of sight

My wife would move to Pagosa Springs Co in a heartbeat
My family used to have a house in Durango, not far from Pagosa... I WILL move back there one day, Durango is an awesome place..
If you haven't looked into it, check it out Teague.

Durango is where our friends are from and were planning to go back to. It does look beautiful, but the prices seem a little steep.

It;s also a great jumping off place to some fantastic places in Washington, Oregon, Montana. I know someone who lives in Sandpoint and he loves it. Moved there from here.
It doesn't get too cold there either. Coldest air is blocked by the higher mountains tot he East.
Climate is mild, moderate snowfall in winter and definite 4 seasons. Winter highs are in the 30's, summer highs in the low 80's

If any of you folks ever want to look at the climate of a particular area, this site is just awesome. Climate summaries
It's a Western States database and it's awesome for a geography buff like myself. Just scroll down to the "old selections method" which is so much easier IMO

Now, with all the gun talk lately, I've soured on CO, as beautiful as it is. Am I right in ruling CO out? I know that's really what my wife has in mind right now. I can probably sway her to another state though if I have a good argument.
You are not right in ruling out Colorado. Would anyone in their right mind really not want to live in a state simply because of a gun law? Seriously? There have to be a million better things to take into consideration. I guess if you sold guns and they banned guns it would make sense. I'm assuming you'd be able to hunt there? Colorado is a great state, don't eliminate it.

Shut up you goddamned liberal, obama-loving, hippie!
No, but it's indicative of their government in general.
Plus, I think CO is probably full of transplanted californians. It's THE place to go if you're a hippie that knows nothing about nature but wants to live in "harmony" with it. It's also expensive.
