If anything, fire the people who hired him in the first place...
What does that tell you about the board who approved his contract? They hired him to do his job, and he obviously thought the punishment fit the crime, yet they still undermine him?
Don't hire him in the first place if you plan to question his decision making and don't trust the job he can do. Very hypocritical
