Doesn't add up, Sams is probably the number 1 retailer in large volume sales where they rely on inventory turnover and operate at around a 10% profit margin...yet they need to sneak around and sell some BBQ pit where they have an extremely limited supply without the blessing of the manufacturer?

My only issue or question with bge is are they really a premium brand like they think they are or are or they simply a company that once had a monopoly on the kamado market, no longer does, and doesn't know how to adapt. (I admit I have no experience but I am looking to buy a kamado in the near future)
These things are not complicated. They are ceramic spheres with two vents. Why do I want to pay hundreds more for a brand name when the lower cost competitors have similar build quality and function? I think when I buy one in the next few weeks I will probably go with one of the lower cost alternatives unless there is some big difference. If I am going to pay a premium for it then I might as well support made in the USA and get a primo.
I guess what I am asking is bge once had a monopoly and made a killing in the market. Do they still have some advantage or am I paying more for the same thing just because it says bge on it?
