The more I read about the N5, the less I'm inclined to think it's worth the extra $150 for my personal use. The drop test in the squaretrade video also sealed it for me. There's no way a phone that fragile will survive in this house. At this point, it's between the subsidized priced GS5 and the subsidized priced M8, and whether the water resistance and easily replaceable battery is worth it to suffer the plastic housing. That's really the only turnoff. I've done enough research into Touchwiz now to know that I'll be perfectly happy using it.
And even then, I may just say frick it and see what the iPhone 6 offers in the fall. I don't know why I'm acting like I'm in a hurry to upgrade. My 4s's current functionality when jailbroken is the baseline for what I want in my new phone (Unlimited free tethering without a tethering plan, cracked apps, IAPfree, and PandoraSkip).

HTC One over the S5 and it's not close.
Supposedly AT&T have a pretty hard lock on the bootloaders now that's making harder for cyanogenmod to crack and run custom ROMs and apps. At least for these newer phones that's a problem
