I hope you are right. For nearly 400 bucks it better protect my stuff.
So any ideas how I can avoid this in the future? Will a failing PSU cause the breaker to to trip? I mean I know I'm running the PSU pretty hard since it is mining nearly 24/7 but I still expected more than 2 months life out of it.

Sometimes they just die. The bitcoin and litecoin forums are full of people bitching about just about every brand of PSU failing from days to months after they bought them.
