This morning my started a series of that landed spending nearly $600 bucks on nearly nothing.

So this morning a severe thunderstorm rolled through our area. This lead to lighting striking a neighborhood transformer and shutting down power for 2-2.5hrs. Power going out really wasn't "that big" of a deal.. until when the power was restored our AC wouldn't kick on.

So this started a series of the following:

1. Checking breakers
2. Checking Fuses
3. Checking Outside Breaker
4. Buying New Thermostat
5. Installing Thermostat
6. Calling Dad
7. Reading through Manuals
8. Installing new breakers
9. Calling 24/7 AC Service on a SUNDAY!!!
10. PAYING PREMIUM FOR AC GUY TO WORK ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON
11. Problem resolved around 6:00pm

Long and short of it, internal AC transformer fired along with the thermostat. Only good thing I got from the deal was finally purchasing a Nest thermostat.

Has anyone ever used a Nestbefore? Little thing is cool.
