I'm going to hope as much as I possibly can for Jarvis Jones, I believe he could be that kind of difference maker. I believe he could be a disruptive player that could change a game. He is what this team needs more than anything else, some kind of play-maker/game-changer. The Saints haven't had anyone close to that since Darren Sharper.

There are other players I'd still be happy about, but none would make me as happy as he would. The more film I've watched of him, the more I think he could be a terror in Ryan's scheme. *Mathieu is a possibility in the 3rd, as much as I hate his personality he's a game changer, but that's for a different thread.

But, if all of the possible dream picks are gone, and no trading back has taken place, I am content with a receiver like Austin, it only adds another weapon to what has made this team great over the years (the 2012 season doesn't count). I've been talking up Tez since we drafted the guy, sooner or later it'll fall through, and Galette/Butler are both promising. Surely one of the three will do SOMETHING. The offense definitely isn't getting any younger, but I really am not worried about them, they will still be hard to stop, especially with Payton looking to prove a point. I'll be surprised if this isn't a top 5 offense next season, even tempted to put a bet on it. Best case scenario is that the Saints draft a legit OLB and Morgan/Toon show that they are capable of consistent playing time, for the long term.

We think alike. I look at Jarvis Jones' film and just see a playmaker, despite that awful 40 time. You can't chip him and Butler. Plays will be made. But I think even Mingo would work with that formula. Add in Wilson & Galette and you have a promising rotation of disruption that we haven't had in 20 years.

I know that if we improve the defense to just mediocre staus, it gets the ball back to Brees either through INT's, fumbles or punts. The Saints offense scored 28.8 points a game, 3rd best in the league, but was sadly saddled with the shittiest defense in league history, while giving up 28.4 ppg which was 2nd worst in the NFL. I'm surprised they won 7 games. If the defense would have only allowed a mediocre 22 ppg (which was the 16th worst ppg allowed last year) the Saints would have been a playoff team, and that's without Sean Payton at the helm.

The Saints priority is not to score more. Their priority is to have opponents score less.

Whereas, adding an elite pass rusher to compliment Butler, and adding a space-eating disruptor at NT and adding a healthy young ILB, and adding an in-the-box SS who can aslo cover or adding another small school gem at LT...now that could make us Super Bowl contenders.

LSUFreek and Coco both make good points. I agree with y'all about needing to add something to the defense in the 1st round. I'm hoping for an OLB.

I'm curious though, who would you pick if you had to go WR?

Patterson or Austin

I keep hearing fans say this but if anyone would actually take the time to really evaluate everything that is known about Jarvis Jones then one could see that he is huge bust waiting to happen.

Jones is small, slow & has a poor work ethic. That won't cut on the next level even though he produced at the college level. He seems like one of those players who was able to play at a high level in college because of physical gifts but physical gifts alone won't get him by in the NFL.

Without putting the extra effort forth in the weight room, film room & on the practice field, he won't succeed. Not only that, having a poor work ethic is a factor that Payton & the organization frowns upon. Jones doesn't appear to be the type of player the organization covets & any fan who wants an impact defensive player, shouldn't either.
