The guy has done a really good job at Tulane. For whatever reason, he is not getting the caliber of players that he once got from the New Orleans area. If I was Jones, I would leave.

That's true, but they'd be ok if that was the only problem.
His best teams weren't really built around NOLA guys. In '05 they had Manzella, Southard, and Madden who all became really good players, but it's not like they were highly touted. I don't think Lsu wanted a single one of those guys. And that team was great because of Bogusevic + Owings neither from New Orleans.
I don't think 2001 had much New Orleans talent either.
