My son is a chem engineer. He says that operators do very well.

Pretty laid back job MOST of the time. Great pay and benefits (if with the right company). Shift work isn't for everyone but most operators seem to love it. I'm pretty sure Exxon Baton Rouge is hiring right now.

they are good. the pay is good, benefits are good and without overtime i only work 6 months a year.

the down side- these places are open 24/7/365. working holidays sucks for me(i have three fairly young kids). the family is always trying to plan shite but they have to try and plan it around me
