If you were Ricky though, wouldn't you have tried to lay low and stay out of it being that your the high profile LSU recruit and brother of former LSU QB. He had to have done something to warrant getting arrested.
I'm trying to figure out how this got by all the media in the first place.

Well if he didn't know the guy was a cop and he was protecting his friend then I'm sure he didn't think he was doing anything wrong or illegal.

Perhaps.
But if you're just out having fun at Mardi Gras and some dude starts beating on your buddy your first reaction is to get in there and help. I'd rather someone like that play for LSU than some pussy that leaves a friend hanging after getting attacked.
This is all based on the assumption that they didn't know this was an undercover cop and he never identified himself.
Even then sometimes cops step over the line. There's hundreds of youtube videos that prove it. I think just b/c someone is a cop it doesn't make them immune to getting their arse beat of they did something unwarranted.

But he was laying low, just enjoying himself at a Mardi Gras parade. Then this plain-clothes cop got involved...
Not saying he's totally innocent but implying he was out looking for trouble is stupid

OK I don't know the fact of what went down but this has got to be the stupidest statement I have seen on the rant in a long time. Some people just have no clue about cops. I am not out to bash cops as a whole or anything but to believe that they are above all things illegal is ridiculous.
I have a friend, white, that got arrested for walking down the sidewalk during Mardi Gras. Policemen on horseback almost rode over him from behind and they arrested him for attacking their horses.
Have any New Orleans police ever been arrested for murder! Yep!
Like I said I am not defending RJ but to just blanketly consider all cops as clean and pure as mother Teresa is foolish.
