I agree that in the NBA draft you take the best player available if that player is significantly better than the other options. But it seems like this year after McLemore at the top there is a lot of debate over who will be best player.

Given that, I think it would make sense for the Hornets/Pelicans to go with need (SF), or at least not draft the one position (PF) at which they already have two excellent guys. All the other spots need a lot more help, especially SF.

When have they not taken BPA? I'm sure you're going to say Oden, but hindsight is the only thing working in your favor. At the time of that draft, Oden was considered the consensus BPA.

Or maybe they should have passed on Lillard. That would have been a brilliant move.
