I started to play tomb raider last night and i noticed on my monitor during the cutscenes a line that would run across my screen and it was quite aggrivating. I figured it may be the settings for the game as i do not see this line on arma II. Any ideaa how to fix it?

4.0 ghz amd 8350 Processor
Radeon 7870 XT 2 GB Graphics Card
AM3+ Motherboard with upto 32 gb ram
16 GB System Ram
120 GB SSD
1 TB HDD
Aftermarker Cooler

The setting for Tomb Raider were just the default. I dont know the first thing about how to change those correctly.

take a screen shot. If it comes and goes then it might be settings. Could also require a reinstall/redownload

Yeah. Ill look at it again when i get home.

I'm thinking it could be the resolution it's set to, make sure the game is set to the native resolution of the monitor. It's just that game?

Yup. Arma runs fine, but of course less powerful.

is it tearing by any chance? what is your monitor refresh rate and are you tracking how many frames your getting?
Posted on 3/15/13 at 12:22 pm to Mr Gardoki
That maybe it. Im not tracking so im not sure. The rate seems to be smooth, but this line seems to appear when things do get fast in the CGI and go away when things are slower.

Does it look like this? Look at the urinals for what I'm asking about?
Posted on 3/15/13 at 12:42 pm to Blitzed
That's tearing. It happens when your gpu is producing more images than your monitor can handle. I recommend monitoring your frames so you have an idea when it happens because it usually happens like I said. However there are time I have experienced when it is less frames than that which I don't understand why still.
You can either up your settings which will lower frame rates and possibly find a happy medium or enable vsync. Problem with vsync is it can lower your frames too much. It's a tricky feature.

Besides vsync. What other settings do i need to fool with? Settings in game correct?

Yea you can up the graphics settings. What settings is tomb raider on for you?
Posted on 3/15/13 at 2:34 pm to Mr Gardoki

Tomb raider has a general setting you can change, ultra. ultimate, etc... What is yours on now?
