That's what every smooth operator says before he ultimately ends up baggin the dime.

Looking at all these corners is a serious referendum on poor Patrick Robinson.
Robinson actually played ok in 2011. Spags screwed him up. He will do fine in a press-man scheme.
I actually think our secondary would be set by adding Nnamdi and keeping everyone else. Greer shifts to #2, Robinson shifts to Nickel, White to Dime. I think you see improvement out of Harper and Jenkins as well.

Yeah, going hard after Kruger on first day of FA != taking it slow.

He's an interesting player, honestly. When the light seemed to come in in 2011 he looked like a serious player. I agree that the zone concepts really messed him up..don't mean this in an ugly way but he's more of a read and react guy and not a thinker out there.
When he's gotta make quick decisions his game slows down significantly and he gets destroyed. Definitely built for a man scheme that lets him lock onto one guy and not worry about anything else.

At the very least it lets other big names know we are serious about making room to accommodate them..

If we can sign him to a relatively cap friendly deal, this is huge. He would come to a system that fits his strong suit and come back to the defensive coordinator that he was considered one of the best CBs in all of the NFL under.

will be difficult considering he was paid $11 million last season and didn't want to restructure.

Agreed, he would be a nice answer to Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith, and Julio Jones.

heres a question,
was NA always a great corner, or was he a product of RR system?

Random thought: asomugha at safety Jenkins back at corner?
Asomugha = corner
Quddus or insert Player = safety
Jenkins = Bench

He wasn't shutdown with the eagles. I would still like him though cause he has shown he does well in Ryan's system.

Can Asomugha play safety ala Charles & Rod Woodson?
Posted on 3/13/13 at 6:58 pm to F machine
I feel like there is so much confusion and constant facts are being repeated.
Is he a shut down corner? YES, in the sense of man -to- man press coverage. He can go toe to toe with anyone.
But didn't he struggle in Philly? YES, but Philly had him playing a lot of Zone. He is not a zone cornerback. Just like Jason David could not play man. (I'm certainly not comparing the two in a talent sense)
He will be a good fit in Ryan's system: YES, because the 3-4 and the system Ryan runs depend on cornerbacks who can play solid Man to Man coverage.
Can we afford him? Ask Mickey..
