That's the problem It's not totally out of his control.

Please explain to me how making a fish eat is in his control.

I see the pic of your driver in your avatar. Please don't tell me you've never been to a course that was in "less than your standards" condition and not gone back to the pro shop and demanded at least a partial refund.

Nope. Never. However, the condition of a golf course is actually in someone's control. The greenskeeper generally can control the condition of the golf course, so another bad analogy.

The point is I didn't even do this. We paid and tipped. We caught fish.

Then quit bitching like a freshman school girl who can't get tickets to a Bieber concert.

If I were in charge of a guide service that took customers and didn't get a bite all day (the hypothetical),

See last quote.

There's no way I could sleep at night after taking a group fishing or hunting and not catching or killing a damn thing and making them pay. If I take you on a hunting or fishing trip, there is an expectation you will kill or catch.

Again, see above.

He is supposed to be this skilled tuna fisherman, therefore, there is an expectation of catching at least a few tuna.

If fished along side Lance enough and I can tell you he's one of the best tuna killers operating in LA. 30 minutes at a spot is ample time for him to realize they weren't there. Shite can and does change out there drastically overnight. Perhaps bad water moved in. He obviously wasn't marking anything on sounder nor were they busting on the surface. No rip to troll, he made the right call turning north and trying to salvage the trip. Could he have moved to another location in the opposite direction of the guy he called? Certainly, but if he would have and came up empty you'd be complaining about the fuel bill and not catching anything at all.
