It was hard to leave off so many great, game changing classics. Many of which, along with many modern era films,I would rather watch and would quicker recommend over some on my list. A median between movies that we think are best and movies we enjoy most is what was asked for and that is what I attempted to do. Ask me again in a month or so and the last 10-15 on my list could change. The Passio of Joan of Arc is not something I would recommend to most and not something I would want to watch many times over. Its one of those old classics that was so meaningful its shown to kids in schools, me being one of those. When I returned to it as an adult, it still spoke to me and I came to find, through research, that it is widely regarded as one of the most influencial, respected movies ever made. I felt obligated to include it high on my list.

Just realized I only included one 21st century film. A few that would be included on a much longer list:

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind - Requiem for a Dream - A History of Violence - There Will Be Blood - Lost in Translation - 300 - The Master - The Departed - O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Take Shelter
