Taking games off is not something championship players and teams do.

Ask Terrence Cody about it.

Ask the Colts about it.

Ask the Packers about it.

In the NFL they literally bench a player for the 17th week at times. They LITERALLY take the game off.

But don't let that get in the way of your theory.

D-U-M-B.

At the end of an NFL season, when a team already has the division and bye week locked up, they will literally take the game off, true but that only happens on occasion and not every team does that, like the NE for example. But you are comparing apples to oranges. In the NFL, week in and week out the players and coaches give it their all during the games and in preperation. Aging professional athletes do not have time to take it easy. A good NFL team plays all out every sunday no matter who they play. When they don't, thats when coaches get fired and players become scrutinized. In the league, anything less than 100% is unacceptable. I don't understand how in college football, when every game counts, a player can openly have that attitude. Whenever you are on the field, play your best. Whenever the starters best are no not needed then 2nd and 3rd teams can take over

no coach working in sports right now thinks its acceptable for players to take off games. but why do you think coaches try to treat every opponent like world beaters? it's because it's in human nature to not be as psyched for towson as you are for florida or alabama.

I completely agree. Thats why all coaches, especially in college football, stress giving it 100% every single week and to never look ahead of an opponent. I know that Montgomery's attitude does not please Les Miles. He wants his players best. If this attitude would become contageous then the buck stops at the head coach but that is hopefully not the case. Can't really blame CLM for one players actions I suppose.

if you really think the buck always stops with miles then i hope he holds credit when good things happen that is equal to his liability when something bad happens.

Absolutely

LSU football is currently an elite college football program and that is in large part due to CLM.
