I remember early during our 56 win 2007-2008 season, we played Detroit and only 9,000 people were there. We're just not a basketball state, and people won't show up unless we're winning.
They were giving away free tickets to a Seattle Supersonics game that year. As a college kid, I was grateful there was an NBA team in LA.

I know for fact the NFL has more. That argument doesn't really work anyway. Louisiana has produced a bunch of MLB players, too. Could they support a big league team?
Look man, like I said earlier. I don't mind having extra room around my seats at the arena. It gives me more freedom to do whatever the frick I want. Spill beer, throw nachos, dance like I'm at a jam band concert, etc... It just gets depressing sometimes looking at an empty arena. I want people to come.
The NFL has more players . . . so, duh.
Could they support a baseball team? Yes. Can they support all 3 today? Likely not. All you have to do is look at Tiger and Tulane baseball following to get your answer about the passion.
I can't tell if reading, thinking, or exerting patience is the most pressing of your problems, Mr. Alter.

Most MLB stadiums hold a minimum of 30k and we can't even get half of that for Hornets games. Not to mention 41 games compared to 80.

Your reading comprehension also seems to be rather lacking. My main point is I wish more people would go to games. You just keep trying to justify the lack of attendance and diverting the argument into new directions, many of which are based upon speculation.

Ever check MLB attendance? 20k puts you ahead of some teams. Plus, it's a different price, demographic, and gamea are played when kids are off of school for the Summer. Those attendance numbers are like.NBA... not butta in seats.
The Dome was built with MLB in mind. They lost at least one expansion bid before oil went bust, and ... all the college stuff above plus the Zephyrs of today and Pelicans of old all point to why it is reasonable.
Also, Saints attract a ton of people.

Wrong and wrong. Wow, is your actual self that dense?
I feel sorry for your mother.

the honest to God truth and the elephant in the room that no one ever wants to address is the fact that the Gulf South is not a good basketball market. even when the Hornets were a solid playoff teams for three seasons the attendance was never anything to brag about. the absolute best attendance year for the Hornets was the 2008-09 season immediately following the season before where they made a decent playoff run (second round) and the average attendance that season was 16,968. prior to that season it was around 14k and then the very next season in 2010 it was around 15k and it hasn't been higher than that ever since.
the only way this team will ever get good fan support is if they win a championship plain and simple and it would only last while and only when the team is winning. that is not a good thing. that tells you the market here is terrible for basketball.
You're not exactly accurate in your analysis, but I'm not going to argue with you. It's a waste of time.
I actually have a question that I'd like you to answer. Does this constant bloviating about attendance have some sort of cathartic effect for you? Do you somehow feel you are making a point on a fan site by beating this particular dead horse? Seriously. I'd like to know your point.

Yeah, good luck getting that many fans.

Have you seen how empty Zephyrs games are? Saints attract people for 8/365 days.

Your level of self importance is hilarious. Also, resorting to mother insults- very classy Mr. Tulane Man.
Don't you know what happens to people who talk bad about mothers ? LINK

Jabarkus,
Deny all you like. It's a moot point. No MLB team is coming herein the foreseeable future. We have 2 major leases to work out in the 2020's.

Didn't talk about her. I memtioned my condolences.
It's Dr. Tulane Man to you, coward. And where is the self-importance? Oh, you are just repeating things you hear but don't understand, again. It's ok. We are used to people like you. You know, disappointments.
Please, continue to dance... entertain me before I dismiss you... unless I'm keeping you from friends, or a date, or a job! Or a book!
