It's about 6 months old...I felt it month ago and it worked it's way close to surface and I took it out..it was around rib area...put peroxid On it... bled very little....dog's fine

Got lucky.
Suspect it was a .22 short.
A .22 LR would have likely penetrated the rib.

You saw the entrance wound six months ago and knew he was shot?
Or just thought it was a cut from something and just noticed the billet.
