Jeff- what is the advantage of having that much damn ram?

MR G- budget is 12-1400, i will mostly be ripping blu-rays and transcoding video. maybe some audio mixing.

dont plan on doing any gaming but if i find something worth playing i want to play at 1080p+ with ultra settings and not have it break a sweat.

dcrews- do you convert any video? i was wondering how one card would handle it.
