One thing i did notice. The last 2 times i brewed, and i got high efficiencies. I did not stir up the grains while they were mashing. I just let them sit the whole hour. Maybe that has something to do with it? My previous 2 all-grain batches i would mix up the grain bed a little.

Once I've got them all thoroughly mixed I usually put the lid on and don't mess with the grains again.

I've seen people who mash over a burner stir them constantly though.
