I knew a few people who hunted deer with a.357 mag when I lived in La. I've just never found handgun hunting to be that practical.

It's not really about being practical to hunt with a handgun. It's about the sport..."Giving everything a fair chance" 
Seriously,an 8 year old little girl can climb up in a carpeted, heated box stand with a .243 and kill a deer. Where's the sport in that? Maybe a lot of excitement for the kid and her daddy...good times and memories. All good stuff!! ~~ Take a hand gun, and stay on the ground, it's just another level of being a hunter. ~ Not for everyone I know.
