Skip Bertman averaged 18.3 losses per season.
The fewest losses for any of LSU's 6 national title teams is 13.
If the legendary Skip Bertman averaged 18.3 losses per season and still found a way to win 5 National Championships, then LSU fans should not become unglued when the Tigers drop their first game or first series of the year.
IIRC, posted elsewhere, everyteam in the CWS last year ended up with at least 18 losses for the seaon.
If a team plays 66 games a year (includ. post season) and loses 18, then that team still has a winning percentage of 72.7 % . That is slightly better than going 7-3 every ten games played.
20-10 in the SEC wins the Championship most years and that is just 66.6 %.
No one needs to get down about losing a game this year to Southeastern or McNeese or ULL, if it happens. The true barometer of success is in the SEC play + regionals and supers. If the Tigers can handle their own in Conference and regiona/supers, then anything can happen in Omaha. I don't believe anyone on LSU's team will be overlooking anyone this June.
