60 in Panasonic Plasma TV - $798 (~$900 AFTER TAX) (SAMS CLUB)

60 in Samsung LED TV - $1,100 on AMAZON (FREE SHIPPING & NO TAX)

From everything I've read, Panasonic is the leader for plasma and Samsung is the leader in LED. Is the quality of LED worth the $200 price difference?

I rather plasma but LEDs have came a long way in color correction.

For sports go LED for high refresh rates, for gaming you can get by with a plasma since current gen consoles are 30FPS and next gen will be 60FPS.

Love their "slim" line. You can get 55" 120hz/240 clear 1080 slim LEDs refurbished for under 1k from TigerDirect.

What's the lighting like in the room?

If you have complete control over lighting (including natural lighting) then plasma may be a better choice. If you have natural light in the room that you can't control then LED (which is an LCD TV with LED back lighting) will be the better choice.

In my opinon, the quality of Samsung alone is worth the price difference.

I'm sort of a samsung junkie so my opinion is pretty biased, but thier SmartHub is far superior to other manufacturers (again, in my opinion).

Its almost like comparing thier top end app availability to that of iOS when comparing that to what you can get on the Window's Phone. There's just more "stuff" on the Samsung smarthub.

If "stuff" isn't your thing, buy for price. LG has some solid LEDs for a decent price.

And if you're a sports fanatic, Samsungs ClearMotion technology delivers the same sports experience as a 600 plasma. Samsung LEDs without ClearMotion technology, however, has a lot of ghosting on sports and 60fps gaming. But ClearMotion LEDs, you can almost not tell the difference in the clarity between that and plasma.
