Yea, I used the thief set when I did Blighttown. Both work. The enemies outside of the Snipers really aren't that bad. The only thing you have to worry about is falling off the bridge.

Yea, regular purple only works for poison, which makes them useful in Blighttown, but the blooming purple are a freaking godsend.

Seriously, get a shitload of those. When you think you have enough, you don't. Get more.
