I dug up the last 10 seasons around this time last year....
The "magic numbers", IIRC is:
- .500 in the SEC
- 19 wins
- win two SEC tournament games
.... will get you to the dance.
It was something like 67 out of 70 SEC teams over 10 years that hit those numbers. One was when the sub .500 Georgia team won the tourney and bounced somebody, and one was the year the committee left out MSU at 22-7 or whatever.
Still possible for this season for the Tigers.

Conference is terrible. They'll be lucky to get 5 teams in

i dont think that will be enough to get us in the tourny this year because of the sec. However, I dont see how people have us at below 50 % for the nit.
