Not saying that many aren't being produced now because I have no clue, but that year was definitely special.

BR will continue to develop players, but that year was certainly not the norm.

All from the Baton Rouge area and went to LSU:
2003: Brandon Bass, Darnell Lazare
2004: Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas, Garrett Temple
2005: Tasmin Mitchell
2006:
2007: Bo Spencer, Marcus Thorton (from JC)
Since then we have had 5 total commits from LA. I would say Trent Johnson happened. Plus that 2004 class was amazing.

I'm hearing there are some ballers in B.R. in the 9th grade. Wayne Sims son among them, but 1 or 2 others in that class with him at U-High that can also be good college level players, and some others in that same age group in town.
The good thing there is that not only is Sims a legacy but Johnny Jones is enrolled at U-High as an 8th-grader. So we may have another Temple-like pipeline through both U-High and the local AAU circuit.

Wasn't he supposed to be "Lebron" like in high school? What happened? I heard about him in 8th grade as the next big thing and was merely an above average role player in college.

quote:I actually got into a rather nasty email argument with Randy Rosetta (I think) about him. Big story in the Advocate when he graduated (something about him being an alltime great in the history of the program), I sent an email saying I felt the kid was a nice guy but a fairly mediocre baller. The sportwriter basically had an embolism about my comment that he wasn't a top 10 at his position here, much less in the top 10 overall; his responses were rude as shite and not very convincing either.

Rosetta can be very douchey at times so I'm not surprised
