I carry mine because I like pistols. I carry one outside the woods, why shouldn't I carry one in the woods? Besides, it's much better than letting them sit in the safe.

Lately I've been carrying my .44 magnum, for the purpose of actually hunting with it, although I bring a rifle as well. Plenty of hogs to go around at my property, so I like to mix it up with what I shoot them with.

I'll usually pop snakes with my XD40 when it's not hunting season, but if I've got the .357 or .44, I'll grab a stick unless I brought my ear plugs.

If you've got a pistol, I don't see any reason not to carry it, unless it's big and bulky.

The question wasn't whether you will carry a handgun, but whether you carry a handgun when you are already armed.

I get carrying one while you are scouting or walking through the woods outside of season. But I don't see a reason to carry one when you already have a rifle or shotgun. Also, as I said, I don't see the rationale that you might be eaten by pigs or bobcats as valid.
