With their budget, there's no reason to run lean on staff and double up their duties.
The problem for the LSU coaching staff was not one of economics. It was a matter of Coach Kragthorpe's untimely diagnosis of Parkinson's. At that point in time, one couldn't hire a worthy OC and we already had the NCAA allowed maximum number of coaches on our staff. Someone had to step up and do double duty. That ended up being Coach Stud. Life dealt Coach Kragthorpe and the LSU coaching staff a bad hand. Fortunately, it looks like Coach Miles has found a better long term solution w/ the hiring of CC.

This. With a team possibly good enough to make a run for the championship, Miles wanted to maintain continuity. Too late to make such a big change.
He was in a similar situation of trying to "maintain" continuity after winning it all in 2007, and needing to replace Bo P. He tried an experiment that failed, and he moved on to the Chief. I see similarities in the situations, the results, and the solutions. If CC has anywhere near the results as Chief, we are in for some Good Times.
